City Council Recap
Woodstock City Council held a key meeting on September 19, where they discussed important local topics. Among the highlights were budget planning discussions and deliberations on what to do with the proceeds from the sale of the old Small Business Centre building. Additionally, they touched on traffic safety initiatives aimed at improving road conditions across the city​.

Community News
Over the weekend, the Woodstock Terry Fox Run was a huge success, raising $31,000 so far, surpassing last year’s total. The community continues to show its support for cancer research with tremendous participation​.

Local Crime Update
Unfortunately, the Woodstock Police responded to shots fired at a home in the city’s north end. Thankfully, no one was injured. The investigation is ongoing​.

Big headlines today:
Woodstock Police are investigating shots fired at a home in the city’s north end. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Stay safe out there, Woodstock!

In community news, the annual Terry Fox Run has raised over $31,000, surpassing last year’s total. A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support cancer research!

Also, the Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show has been a big draw this week. Thousands of visitors are in town to check out the latest innovations in agriculture, making Woodstock the go-to spot for farmers and tech enthusiasts from across the country.

Sports update: The Woodstock Navy Vets are gearing up for their home opener tonight as they kick off the new PJHL season. Get ready to cheer them on!

Finally, a new County Clerk has been appointed for Oxford County. Lindsey Mansbridge will step into the role after serving as Deputy Clerk for the past four years.

Woodstock is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. The city has a population of 40,902 according to the 2016 Canadian census. Woodstock is the seat of Oxford County, at the head of the non-navigable Thames River, approximately 128 km from Toronto, and 43 km from London, Ontario. The city is known as the Dairy Capital of Canada and promotes itself as “The Friendly City”.

Woodstock was first settled by European-colonists and United Empire Loyalists in 1800, starting with Zacharias Burtch and Levi Luddington,[4] and was incorporated as a town in 1851. Since then, Woodstock has maintained steady growth, and is now a small city in Southwestern Ontario. As a small historic city, Woodstock is one of the few cities in Ontario to still have all of its original administration buildings. The city has developed a strong economic focus towards manufacturing and tourism. It is also a market city for the surrounding agricultural industry.

Woodstock is home to a campus of Fanshawe College. The city plays host to a number of cultural and artistic exhibits, including the Woodstock Museum, a national historic site. Woodstock’s summer festivals contribute to its tourism industry; however, its economic activity is centred on the manufacturing centre, the city being home to several auto-manufacturing factories. The city’s west end has exceptionally well-preserved Victorian streetscapes; most notable of these streets is Vansittart Avenue, named after Admiral Henry Vansittart, one of the city’s first settlers. Woodstock has a large community centre with a rink capable of accommodating 2,500 spectators for hockey games. The centre also has a large banquet hall and atrium which play host to many social gatherings for the community.
